Tavira is somewhat unique on the Algarve in that whilst it is the centrepiece of the Eastern Algarve it remains an utterly charming town. Moncarapacho is a quiet village in a rural location in the East Algarve. It can be found just a few kilometres to the north of Olhao. Development has been slow to come to Moncarapacho and the area remains quiet with a sense of tranquillity. Having said this the village does have a selection of restaurants and bars as well as supermarkets and banks. There is a weekly market which is always good fun to look around. Cabanas is situated just a few kilometres to the east of Tavira and is near to a number of excellent golf courses. Benamour is very close to the town and provides an excellent challenge for the keen golfer. In recent times Cabanas has been much improved as a town. There have been real changes made to the seafront and a new one-way system means that the centre of the town is much freer of traffic than it used to be. In the future it is hoped that a marina will be built.
The increase in pavement in areas means that it is now a far more pleasant experience to take advantage of the tables outside the many cafes and bars and restaurants in the area.
If you are a beach lover Cabanas will not disappoint. The water is calm and the beach sandy. You can see the local fishermans boats and that the whole scene is exactly as one out as a southern European beach should be.

Fuzeta is much smaller than Cabanas and can be found near to Olhao. It is situated on the coast and has a couple of pleasant beaches. One of these is in the town and is always busy with locals. The other is on the Ilha de Armona on the other side of the lagoon. This speech is huge and stretches for miles in either direction. It is easy to scroll through a few minutes along the beach and find yourself very much alone.

Outside of the summer it is quiet but it is this tranquillity which makes its appeal to so many.
